George stays upbeat

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

George Graham tried to remain upbeat after Saturday’s goalless draw against Southampton.
But he admitted that the Saints had enough chances in the first half to end our unbeaten home record in the Premiership.
Ian Walker, in goal for the suspended Neil Sullivan, produced fine saves from James Beattie, Hassan Kachloul and Kevin Davies, Dean Richards headed over from 10 yards and when Walker was stranded after making a save Luke Young superbly blocked Wayne Bridge’s goal bound effort.
Boss George reflected: “Southampton must be very disappointed because they had enough chances to wrap the game up in the first half.
“But those chances came mainly from our errors at the back and we sorted a few things out at half-time defensively.
“After that I didn't think we had a problem because all Southampton had left was a long throw-in.”
The second half remained a scrappy affair but we improved slightly and Ledley King saw his flicked header come back off the crossbar.
But George admitted: “It would have been severe on Southampton if that had gone in.
“They are a big, strong, well-organised side, very difficult to beat like many teams I've managed myself in the past.
“In circumstances like these you've got to hang your hat on anything positive.
“We've now had three clean sheets in a row which is a miracle for us and we are still unbeaten at home in the league.”
Listen to George's press conference in full by clicking here
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
