There is certainly an air of confidence at Spurs Lodge after successive wins against Liverpool and Leicester City but no-one underestimates the challenge of meeting the Premiership champions — not least with our win-less away record.
United are eight points clear and unbeaten at home but the boss insists he will not just accept defeat. George said: “I want us to defend a lot, lot better than we have been on the road but at the same time, when we get the ball, I want us to go forward.
“I don’t want to go up there, lay down and think just because this is Manchester United we’ll go up there and accept defeat. I do not want that.
“I want to go up there with a positive attitude and when we get the ball I want to go forward and try to score.”
But George is aware there has to be a balance against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men — sit and defend and they’ll smoother you, go in too cavalier and they’ll hit you on the counter.
George added: “If you go and try and attack them they are easily the best team in the country at hitting you on the break because they have so much pace and talent and technical ability on the break, they are fantastic.
“But if you sit back and let them come at you, they can win that way as well. Balance is the right word.
“You’ve got to get behind the ball and make it difficult for them when they’ve got it, when they’re in possession but when we win we have to be positive and have a go at their back four.”
