George delighted with tour

English Barclays Premiership

George Graham has declared our Scandinavian tour a success - but is determined not to get too carried away.

A week of hard graft coupled with 14 goals scored and none conceded in three friendly matches saw the team depart from Sweden for England on Tuesday in high spirits.

And the boss enthused: "It has been an excellent week but we have to remember that it is just a training visit. The results are welcome but they are not the be-all and end-all of everything.

"The attitude and application from the boys has been fantastic. The opposition is not the quality we expect but the manner in which we have approached the games has been first class.

"The defence has tried to do their job, keeping clean sheets, the midfield has been breaking down moves, supplying and creating, and with the forwards it's all about finishing. I think we have done those three things. Now we have got to do it at a much, much higher level."

We finished off in style with six of the best against hosts Bodens BK on Monday. Steffen Iversen, Chris Armstrong and Sergei Rebrov accounted for five of the goals and added to Les Ferdinand's strikes in the first two games, the forward line has been responsible for all-but one of our 14 goals on tour - Tim Sherwood bagged the other.

"It was another good performance from the boys against Bodens," added Graham. "These teams may not be as technically superior as us but they are very strong physically and make you work hard for results. I'm pleased with the amount of chances we created. I'm quite famous for my defensive qualities but I'm happier about the goals we've scored and the chances we've created as well.

"Basically what pre-season is about is forming good habits and getting rid of any bad habits. It's about getting prepared for a long, hard, grinding season in the Premiership. If I can install the qualities I want in the Tottenham team as early as possible then players know what's expected of them and know what they've got to do to please me.
