On the eve of the fans' first chance to see him on English soil, manager George Graham has announced his delight in the way L11m man Sergei Rebrov has settled into his new way of life.
The Ukrainian star is set to make his friendly debut for us in this country at Birmingham City on Saturday after impressing in Scandinavia last week. Seemingly at ease with his new surroundings, Rebrov netted against Tervarit in Finland and Swedish outfit Bodens BK in his first matches for us on tour.
The boss enthused: "I've been very pleased with Sergei. He is a very intelligent boy, he speaks good English and that will improve as well. He has joined in with the team spirit and that I always admire.
"I think he will be a popular player. I'm glad in a way that he's not been banging in three or four goals every game. We're doing it nice and quietly, efficiently and I hope he saves the majority of his goals for the real thing."
Strike partner Steffen Iversen added: "Sergei is a great player and quite different from Chris, Les and myself. I think that is a good thing for us because whoever who plays with him will connect very well.
"He has come into a new team and adapted excellently and in just a few games, you can see he is a class player. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the Premiership."
The manager will talk about the friendly against Birmingham City on the website on Saturday. Don't forget there's live commentary.
