The thrilling victory set up an intriguing semi-final derby date against Arsenal on Sunday April 8 but boss George wanted nothing to detract from his Upton Park heroes.
He said: "I’m delighted for the players. To change systems of play, to play lads out of position and handle it and compete the way they did was great. The style of football was great as well and the positive way we approached the first half was fantastic.
"I thought we were by far the better team in the first half and we were very unfortunate to go in at half-time at 1-1.
"I thought in the second half West Ham really came forward and at 3-1 they really threw caution to the wind, came at us and put us under a lot of pressure but there was some great blocking and wonderful saves and it was just a great cup tie."
