Of course, while the Spurs fans were offering their encouragement, the team's performance on the pitch was having the opposite effect on the Liverpool support.
John suspect that the supporters can see the spirit developing within our now young side and a determination to make a success of the season.
"The fans were magnificent, they really enjoyed it and could see a new Spurs," said John. "They could see a feeling and a spirit that is really developing and can see that everyone is behind the manager and behind the team.
"We are working really hard for success and coming to places like Anfield and doing well can lead to it."
John also reserved praise for the front two of Helder Postiga and Bobby Zamora. The duo defended from the front and made sure the Liverpool rearguard rarely had time to settle on the ball or build from the back.
"They didn't score, but they came here to do a job for the team - to defend from the front," added John.
"It was the same in the midfield right through to the defence. The defenders were outstanding as was Kasey. A special little mention too for Rohan Ricketts who showed he could handle the occasion at a place like Liverpool."
John Gorman paid tribute to the Spurs travelling support that backed the team so vocally at Anfield on Wednesday.
