Our £11m summer capture from Dynamo Kiev is currently nursing a thigh injury that has ruled him out for the last two Premiership matches.
The Ukrainian star with five goals to his credit this term has come in for a bit of stick of late and one Sunday newspaper even suggested last week that we were set to cut our losses and offload him.
Boss George said: “Sergei is definitely a world-class player and is like other world-class players who have come into English football - it takes time to settle down.
“The culture is different, the pace and intensity of the game is different and he will settle in once he’s used to all these aspects of the English game.
“I’m delighted with him. I think he is a terrific lad, works very hard in training, great attitude and he’ll settle in, no problems with that. Just give him time.”
