The former Spurs boss took over the Teesiders a fortnight ago with the club at the bottom of the league and seemingly in freefall.
But Venables has already started to turn the tide with a fine victory against Chelsea last weekend and it will be a different Boro that turns up at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Boss George commented: “I think he can keep them in the Premiership. He’s got the talent. They also have the personnel there. It will be tighter this year but I see no reason why Terry can’t keep them up.”
And George will warn his side about the Venables effect — with the Boro players playing for places under the new regime at the Riverside.
George added: “All the players are trying to impress him. It will be another tough game but there is no reason why we can’t be confident.
“Our home record is one of the best in the country and we played well against them in our first away game of the season and probably deserved more than a draw.
“It will be another close-fought game and let’s just hope the home form can continue.”
