Glenn Hoddle has confirmed that Anthony Gardner tore his hamstring at Chelsea yesterday and is expected to be out for up to eight weeks.
The young defender pulled up clutching the back of his right leg in the first half at Stamford Bridge and was clearly in a lot of pain as he limped down the tunnel.
It comes as another huge blow for Anthony after thigh and knee injuries restricted him to just three appearances since scoring the winner against West Ham in September. Now he faces another long stint on the sidelines.
"It's a nasty one," said a disappointed Glenn at Stamford Bridge. "He has torn his hamstring and it will be a minimum of six to eight weeks out. It's a shame for him."
