Anthony Gardner feels the team responded well to the setback of falling behind against Manchester City in the Easter Monday encounter at the Lane.
After four straight defeats where the team have been unable to react to going a goal down, the England international feels this time the response was positive and a draw was the least reward deserved.
"I thought we started off not too bad, but they got back into it and got a goal," reflected Anthony. "The boys responded well in the second half, it was an important game where we wanted three points but we'll take a point.
"You did sort of think 'here we go again' because we were having most of the play when they scored. It showed the spirit of the boys to come back because we dominated the game in the second half and could have got more than one goal."
Anthony added that, as the game entered the final minutes, the prime consideration for the back line was to make sure that the point was secured.
"From a defenders point of view it was a case of making sure we didn't lose. We, like the fans, wanted to win but we had to get the balance right and not get caught out late on."
