Game at a time

Vedran Corluka isn't setting targets as we prepare to face West Ham at the Lane on Saturday.

The Croatian defender predicts an exciting encounter against the Hammers in what could be a key game in our late challenge for seventh place in the Premier League.

We've climbed as high as ninth in recent weeks before last weekend's jolt at Blackburn.

Two late goals at Ewood Park consigned us to only our second defeat in the last 10 league games and with West Ham beating Sunderland, the result left us 11th in the table and six points adrift of the East Londoners.

We can take a big step back into that race for seventh on Saturday, but 'Charlie' isn't looking too far ahead.

"I think the only target we need to set ourselves is to win as many games as we can before the end of the season and see what position that takes us to," he explained.

"There are many teams still fighting for seventh place and we are one of them, so it will be difficult to achieve that.

"After the start we had to this season, finishing in the top half will be an achievement, so let's just take it a game at a time and see where that takes us. Hopefully we can finish the season strongly."
