Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is working with White Hart Lane Tennis Club to provide tennis lessons for adults and children of all abilities. The programme involves those from the local community who are interested in playing tennis with a structured programme of high quality and affordable coaching.
The newly resurfaced Bruce Castle Park Tennis Club recently hosted an inter-school tournament. A total of 40 children from four Haringey Schools participated. The Green Primary and Lancastarian Primary were joint winners of the year four tournament and The Green Primary was also the winner of the year five tournament.
The tournament was a culmination of a school outreach programme where two classes at each school are given eight hours of free tennis coaching. Those children who showed exceptional talent were then chosen from each class to represent their school in the tournament.
All the matches were umpired by a team of volunteers and a total of 95 matches were played in two and a half hours.
Siwan Stephens, Head Coach at Bruce Castle Park Tennis Club, said “We had some fantastically talented children playing today and we hope that they will keep playing and take part in our Saturday morning sessions here so that they can go on to be the champions of tomorrow.”
Our Sessions currently run at White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, Bruce Castle Park and Fairland Park for juniors as well as adults. A full timetable of activities for both adults and juniors can be found at www.tottenhamhotspur.com/foundation/sports-development/tennis
