Future on view at Lane

Posted on 8 March 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

London football fans are being urged to turn out and support England’s stars of the future at the Lane on Thursday March 22.

We are the proud hosts of the European Under-18 Championship Intermediate round clash against Poland.

Children under the age of 16 can watch the match for free when accompanied by an adult. OAP’s can also watch the young stars for free.

It is the final qualifying round for this summer’s European U18s Championship with victory over two legs booking a place in the tournament in Finland from July 21-29.

Previous England U18 stars include the legendary Bobby Moore and more recently Andy Cole, Michael Owen and ex-Spur Nicky Barmby - our own John Jackson (pictured) is expected to feature on his home ground this time around.

England U18’s coach Martin Hunter says: "The Under 18 squad represents some of the country’s best young talent with many progressing on from this level to the senior team.

"The game promises to be an exciting fixture with some true talent in the squad so we are hoping for a reception to remember. We are looking for a big crowd to give the team a major boost."

Our director of football David Pleat added: "We are honoured to be hosting this England Under 18 Championship match. We have a great stadium and are looking forward to creating a great night of football for fans to remember."
