Frustration for Nabil against Ghana

Posted on 23 January 2015  - 19:28

Nabil Bentaleb was left to rue missed chances as Algeria suffered a last-gasp defeat to Ghana in their second match at the African Cup of Nations on Friday.

Former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan lashed home a stoppage time winner for Ghana – the only goal of the game – with Nabil having earlier gone close to opening the scoring.

After a good passage of play involving Yacine Brahimi and Aissa Mandi with 20 minutes gone, our young midfielder could only side-foot wide when well placed to hit the target.

Nabil also went close in the second half, firing past the post after being played in by Brahimi, but with his side unable to find the net, the game seemed destined to end goalless until Gyan’s late goal.

Having completed the full 90 minutes for the second game in a row, Nabil will be hoping for better luck on the pitch when Algeria face Senegal on Tuesday.
