But that friendship goes out of the window for the fourth time this season when we face our rivals at the Lane in the Premiership on Saturday.
“We need to win. I’ve played three games against Arsenal and I haven’t won,” said Didier at the Lodge. “Saturday is the next challenge and I want to win for the supporters.
“It’s a hard situation because my friends play for Arsenal. I talk to them all the time. There is a big rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham and if I lose, it’s difficult.
“Of course, I know Kolo and Eboue well. Kolo and I come from the same place in the Ivory Coast and for Kolo to play for Arsenal and Zokora for Tottenham is amazing!
“I want to play well and beat Arsenal, that would make me and the fans very happy, but we also need to get into the top seven because next season we want to play in the UEFA Cup again.”
It was put to Didier that it would be perfect timing for his first Spurs goal – just imagine slotting home the winner against Arsenal! “I want to score, it would make me happy but my position in midfield makes it more difficult and JJ breaks forward to score,” he added.
“I play for the team, I run for the team. If I score and we don’t win, it doesn’t matter. I would rather not score and we won. But yes, to score in this game would be a dream!”
