Kevin Bond believes our pre-season programme will provide the ideal preparation for our first tilt at Champions League football.
We face some of European football's biggest clubs this summer with Sporting Lisbon, Villarreal, Benfica and Fiorentina all lined-up before the campaign kicks-off for real against Manchester City on August 14 - followed quickly by our Champions League play-off over two legs.
"These are proper games," said assistant boss Kevin. "Just look at the international friendlies and the likes of Villarreal, Fiorentina and Benfica, plus the teams we'll play in America.
"I'm sure it will stand us in good stead for what we all hope will be a fruitful European campaign."
The draw for the Champions League play-off is on August 6 with the play-off legs scheduled for August 17/18 and August 24/25.
"It's going to be really interesting to see who we get and it will be a massive tie for us so early on in the season, one we'll be determined to win," said Kevin. "It also means we have massive games right at the start of the season, so pre-season is vital."
We kick-off our friendly campaign at Bournemouth this Saturday before flying to the USA for a training camp that includes a friendly against MLS side San Jose Earthquakes on July 17 and then the Barclays New York Challenge, where we'll face New York Red Bulls (July 22) and Sporting Lisbon (July 25) at the Red Bull Arena, New Jersey.
From there, we step out at White Hart Lane for the first time in 2010-11 against La Liga side Villarreal on July 29 followed by a trip to the Estadio de Luz and the Eusebio Cup against Benfica on August 3.
We then return to the Lane for Serie A giants Fiorentina on Saturday, August 7 followed by the big kick-off against City in the Premier League on August 14.
