Freund's warning

Posted on 14 February 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Steffen Freund will make sure we are focused for the huge FA Cup tie against Stockport County on Saturday with this warning: "Remember Birmingham City."

The midfielder is referring to what happened the last time we met a First Division outfit at the Lane and the Blues dumped us out of the Worthington Cup.

County are in the bottom half of the First Division but are on a run of one defeat 12 including a 2-0 win against title-favourites Fulham.

Freund said: "Stockport have a good team, a good squad and they are playing very well. For me it is very important to say that it is never easy.

"Don’t forget the Birmingham game. We saw that as a good chance but we lost 3-1. If we think right in the head before the game against Stockport then I think we will be the winners.

"We are the favourites but we cannot win in this situation. If we win it is nice and great for the club but we can lose everything as well and we have to know that before the game, not just at half-time or 1-0 down.

"I have Birmingham in the head. I hope we learn from that and we are strong from the first minute and then the winner is Tottenham. We have to concentrate, fight for every ball and then we are the winners."
