Teddy played ??? for England against Cameroon earlier today in a final friendly before the tournament that starts on Friday.
He is expected to play a key role from the bench for Sven Goran Eriksson as England attempt to qualify for the second round from Group F.
Steffen, a member of Germany's World Cup squad in 1998, said: "It is a wonderful acheivement for Teddy to be going to the World Cup. At 36, it is amazing.
"It is not typical for players to remain at that international level at 36 and that proves Teddy's qualities.
"I think the most important thing with Teddy on the pitch is that he is always available.
"He never goes missing and even if he is having a bad day, he keep going and going. That's why he's a world-class player."
Steffen Freund says it's a 'wonderful achievement' for Teddy Sheringham to be going to the World Cup.
