Freund on Cup away day

Posted on 20 February 2001 - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Steffen Freund feels home advantage will go out of the window in our FA Cup quarter-final at West Ham.
The weekend’s draw sent us to Upton Park for the biggest game of the season on Sunday March 11.
Midfielder Freund insisted: “It is never easy away from home and that is always my answer when talking about an away game. But this is a London derby and anything is possible, home or away. It is not so important this time to play at home.
“We had a draw there a few weeks ago, had two or three chances and I think it is an open game, 50-50 I think — perhaps 51 to Tottenham because it is 2001!
“It is a huge game, a London derby in the FA Cup and it is the best game of the quarter-finals. It is an open game because it is a derby and this is why, as long as we concentrate, we will have a chance.”
Freund has nothing but praise for Harry Redknapp’s men. “I can only give great compliments to West Ham,” he declared.
“I said straight after we beat them back in September and they had started badly that they would come back no problems. What performances against Manchester United and Sunderland. It is very difficult to play them in the FA Cup this season.”
Click onto Steffen’s Freund's weekly column for a look back at Stockport County and look forward to Leeds United this weekend.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
