Freund guests for reserves

Posted on 21 July 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Steffen Freund turns out the reserves at Barnet today as the second string begin their preparation for the new season.

Our German enforcer is added to a strong looking squad which includes Matthew Etherington, John Piercy, Johnnie Jackson, Yannick Kamanan and Steven Ferguson — who have all made an impression in our first team friendlies.

Coach Theo Foley said: “To be honest, we haven’t had much a chance to work with the players who are going to play as everyone has mostly trained together since Glenn came back — and it’s been very good.

“Glenn has engaged most players in the games, so for some it’s just another game. We’ve got a few young ones in so it will be good for them.”

Theo guided a very young side to a lengthy run of victories towards the end of last season and he hints that the team for the preparation games will be along the same lines.

“It will be at the moment, but I don’t know if that will apply as the season goes on. It is a fairly young team, but we have Steffen Freund playing and we’re looking forward to that. Basically, at this stage of the season, all you need to do is get some games in.”

Squad: Kelly G, Piercy, Thelwell, Hillier, Toner, Freund, Consorti, Etherington, Jackson, Ferguson, Kamanan, O'Donoghue, Barnard, Bowditch, Herron, Henry, Jalal.
