The battle between the likes of Freund, Anderton, Sherwood and King and Vieira, Ljungberg, Parlour and Pires will be the key to the big North London derby at the Lane on Monday.
German marauder Freund rates Vieira as the best central midfielder in the Premiership alongside Manchester United’s Roy Keane.
He said: “I always look forward to playing against Arsenal. This is a wonderful game for every player because it is one of the biggest derbies in the world and I am very proud to be on the pitch.
“I remember last season how the crowd got behind the team. I didn't play in the home game but it was a wonderful feeling just to be there.
“If I play against Patrick Vieira — I met him in a restaurant two weeks ago — he is a very good player and it will be a very important clash in the middle of the park.
“I would say Vieira and Keane play in the strongest teams in the Premier League and I think this is an important point for players in their position.
“They can influence the game all the time and they are very strong with a lot of experience. I think Vieira and Keane are the most important players for those teams."
Steffen Freund can barely wait to take on Arsenal — and lock horns with Gunners’ midfield maestro Patrick Vieira.
