It is the first time the midfielder has been involved in the first team party since surgery to repair the damaged cruciate ligament in his knee sustained against Chelsea, also in the Worthington Cup, back in January.
The news comes as a boost to Glenn Hoddle who is likely to be without Christian Ziege and Jamie Redknapp on top of his long list of injury victims for the second round tie.
The boss revealed this afternoon at Spurs Lodge: "Christian has torn a calf muscle and will be out for some time, Jamie is a still a doubt and we've got some decisions to make whether or not we push a few people in.
"Steffen Freund is one of those. He will be in the squad but whether he can play, maybe it's a little early, Mauricio Taricco is coming back but whether or not he'll be 100 per cent is uncertain.
"Milenko Acimovic should be okay, he's recovered a little from what he picked up after coming off the bench on Saturday but the young lads Rohan Ricketts, Jonathan Blondel and Ronnie Henry will all be in the squad."
Steffen Freund is back in the squad to face Cardiff City at the Lane in the Worthington Cup on Tuesday night.
