The striker is recovering well from hamstring and groin problems and is expected to be back in full training towards the end of the week. The Head Coach has openly admitted to missing the option of the tall Fredi in the last couple of games and the Mali international was certainly on top form before being struck by injuries.
"It is always nice to hear things like this," he reflected. "I think it is because I played quite well in my last few games and we were on a winning dynamic. Now I haven't played in the last couple of games we have lost, but it is not because I was not there.
"Maybe we have missed a little something, possibly from me, but I don't know."
Despite the obvious brilliance of Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe, the Premiership can, at times, be a difficult arena to perform in without a target man to call on in the squad.
"Of course, it is a very physical championship," added Fredi. "Both of them are very good players, very skilful and each have different qualities. Sometimes they might need someone to complement them a bit more, some height and strength and that is what I like to add when I can."
Fredi Kanoute says he is looking forward to giving Martin Jol the option of playing a big fella up front again.
