David Pleat and Clive Allen were quick to point out that it is only a 'may' but the striker has made rapid strides of late as he recovers from ankle ligament damage sustained at Leicester City on October 19.
Caretaker boss David revealed: "Yes, Fredi may be involved for a while at West Ham and depending on that, may be involved on Saturday. But it's up in the air at the moment, we don't know for sure."
Reserve coach Clive added: "Fredi's a possibility for Wednesday. He's making good progress day by day and we have to assess that each day, but there is a chance he could play some part and that would be a big bonus.
"We're erring on the side of caution though because he's made progress very quickly.
"Fredi knows best how he is and he's working well and looking confident. We're being careful but he's doing well."
Fredi Kanoute may play a part in Wednesday's reserve team encounter at West Ham.
