Fredi Kanoute is happy to be back among the goals as he prepares for the new campaign, which gets underway with the visit of Liverpool to the Lane on Saturday.
The frontman recovered well from a nasty chest infection on his return from World Cup duty with Mali over the summer and netted in the preparation games against Nottingham Forest, Feyenoord and Cagliari.
"I think I am getting back my fitness now, I have scored a few goals so I am happy," said Fredi, who missed the beginning of last season due to injury.
"I am not quite sure where I am up to because the season hasn't started - after the first game I will be able to gage how I feel.
"The beginning of the season is an important and special time, it is also important to have a good start for the morale of the team.
"Everybody will be 100 per cent motivated to win this game - especially with it being a home game.
"They have a couple of new players and a new manager so I think it is going to be very interesting - and very tough as well."
