Fredi on threat from the left

Posted on 11 December 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Fredi Kanoute warns to beware of the 'left peg' of his countryman Laurent Robert when we travel to the North East to face Newcastle on Saturday.

Flying leftie Robert has been in scintilating form of late during Newcastle's surge up the Premiership table after a sluggish start and Fredi is also cautions that the supply line to Alan Shearer must be stemmed.

"He is a very good player and we have to be especially careful of his left peg because he has such a strike.

"It will be a tough battle, they have Shearer too who doesn't stop scoring so it is going to be hard."

Newcastle have their very own French connection down the left flank, with Olivier Bernard operating behind his compatriot Robert.

"They are two good players and I have played with Bernard at Lyon and we were in the same academy. So I know him a little bit and he is strong - and Robert is the same," added Fredi, who is confident of a positive outcome from the long trip to St James Park.

"The way we have played in the last two games I think we can get something up there. We shouldn't just go for a draw - I think we can get better."
