New signing Stephane Dalmat showed some natural hesitation when asked to describe himself as a player - step forward Fredi Kanoute.
The French striker was helping our loan capture from Inter Milan out with a bit of translation and was happy to add his own thoughts on the strengths of the 24-year-old.
"It is better to ask the manager and players I've played with," said a coy Stephane.
"I know him and I know he is a good player," interjected Fredi, eager to assist his teammate. "He can push forward, is skilful and strong. He can play both sides and I'm sure he can achieve something here."
Fredi added that he knew Stephane already from France under-21 duty and feels that having a friend around will help the midfielder settle in his new surroundings, pointing out that when he arrived at West Ham there was similar help on hand for him.
"Yes, we were together in the national under-21 team. When I arrived at West Ham I had Marc Keller and Marc Vivien Foe who were there already and helped me."
