The French striker has been out since damaging ankle ligaments in the win at Leicester City on October 19.
The injury was all the more frustrating for Fredi as it came just minutes after he'd grabbed the winner at the Walkers Stadium for his sixth goal in six games.
"Things aren't too bad," reported Fredi at Spurs Lodge. "I started running a few days ago and I'm looking to accelerate now.
"I have to be careful not to rush it because that could set me back - if I could play on one leg I would but I can't! I have to take my time but I don't think I'm too far away."
Fredi is also hoping he won't lose too much match fitness. "It's frustrating because you have to start again, get the fitness back and I hope I haven't lost too much there.
"I will need training and a few games before I'm back at the level I was at again but I'm confident."
Fredi Kanoute says he's progressing well on his road to recovery - admitting he would 'play on one leg' if he could.
