Franz Beckenbauer visits

Posted on 23 June 2015  - 19:00

Bayern Munich legend and honorary president Franz Beckenbauer visited Lilywhite House and the Training Centre today (Tuesday, June 23) to kick-off the countdown to August’s Audi Cup in Munich.

The 1974 FIFA World Cup winner started the day with Chairman Daniel Levy at the Club’s new offices at Lilywhite House before being greeted at our state-of-the-art training facility by Club ambassadors Ossie Ardiles and Gary Mabbutt MBE.

Beckenbauer, who steered West Germany to victory as manager at Italia 90’, was given a guided tour of our Hotspur Way base. “It’s brilliant what I’ve seen,” said the two-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner. “Your training facilities are fantastic – I have never seen such possibilities with the practise fields.

“I talked before with Ossie Ardiles, because, although I’m a little older, we are from the same generation, and in our day in Germany or England from October to April there was no grass on the pitch so now the players are in paradise!”

We take on Real Madrid in the opening game of the Audi Cup at the Allianz Arena on August 4, before playing either Bayern or AC Milan the following day. Tickets are available here.
