Frank Arnesen feels our young reserve group are developing nicely under the guidance of coach Clive Allen.
The second string are certainly hitting the right notes as far as results go - Wednesday evening's victory over Watford made seven wins in eight games. The Sporting Director explained the purpose of a reserve side is two fold, preparing returing senior players for first team football and grooming young talent in a competitive environment.
"It is one of the other things we have talked about from the beginning," considered Frank. "You go two ways, with the first team and, at the same time, try to develop young players that will be strong enough to step up when the time comes.
"My view on the reserves is that we must play the players the Head Coach needs for the first team, the ones he needs to see playing in match conditions. The priority after that is to play the young players so they can get the experience in there.
"That is what we have done and I think, at this moment, Clive is doing very well with his squad."
