Jermain has been upset over suggestions that it was he who had demanded a pay rise.
"There are three issues here," stated Frank at Spurs Lodge this afternoon. "First of all, let's be crystal clear, Jermain Defoe has not asked for anything in his time here.
"We have recognised as a club that Jermain has done very well and Tottenham Hotspur has taken the initiative to talk.
"That is a show of goodwill from the club because it is early in terms of Jermain only being here for about 10 months, but we recognise what he has done and we think he deserves us sitting down and talking to his agent.
"Secondly, when we talk to players, it is a private matter.
"I also have to say that there have been no enquiries from other clubs and we are not intending to sell Jermain. Hopefully he'll be with us for a long time.
"He has done tremendously well for us and when you talk about players who always give everything for the club, that is Jermain Defoe."
Jermain added: "I've never demanded anything from this club. I'm not that type of person really. I just want to get on with my football and keep playing well.
"I've enjoyed my time at Tottenham. The fans are great to me and I love the fans, love the staff and love the players.
"I think we will push on as a club and I'm thoroughly enjoying my football, scoring goals and that's all I need to worry about.
"I'm happy here and I've said that to my family, friends who are close to me and the players. I want to let them all know that I don't want to go anywhere."
Sporting Director Frank Arnesen revealed that far from Jermain Defoe demanding the club review his contract it was in fact the club who had taken the initiative and that talks were already on the agenda.
