As part of our ongoing partnership with Football Focus Asia, the Tottenham Hotspur Football Development team hosted players from the British School of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as part of a UK Experience Residential Programme based on player/coach development.

The week consisted of the guest players training at the Club, with sessions led by the Football Development coaching staff.

It also included the opportunity to tour both White Hart Lane and Wembley Stadium and play against our Elite Development Squad from Turnford School.

The climax of the week for the group was meeting Spurs legend Ledley King who came to meet the group at the Lane to share his experiences of coming through the Academy system to become captain of the First Team.

Sheldon Xavier, head of football development at Football Focus Asia, said: “It’s been a fabulous experience for the students from the British School of Kuala Lumpur to undergo a week's residential training programme with Tottenham Hotspur Football Development. There were numerous learnings and disciplines for the boys from this opportunity. I am certain they will value the experience to take home and carry on with their football development.”

Team captain Gobind Singh Sidhu spoke on behalf of the BSKL squad and added: “We learned many disciplines of the game and the training was much more intense. We also learned lots of new approaches to training in terms of the technical aspects of the game. We’d like to thank Football Focus Asia and Tottenham Hotspur Football Development for making this happen.”
