We’ve faced a challenging initial few weeks of the 2015-16 campaign, slipping to a narrow defeat at Manchester United on the opening day before registering back-to-back draws against Stoke City and Leicester City.
Having taken the lead in the latter two games, we were forced to settle for a point on both occasions after being pegged back in the closing minutes – and that’s something Nacer is keen to avoid as we prepare for match number four and a tough test against Everton at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Reflecting on our fortunes so far in 2015-16, the attacking midfielder said: “The fact is we have just two points.
“The end results have not always been good but we’ve shown some good things on the pitch with the way we’ve played, so hopefully now we’re going to get some wins.
“We have to focus on what we’re doing because it’s up to us how we’re going to play.
“We have to take our chances and make the best of them – we work hard to try to win games, but we just need a little bit more in terms of chances and maybe a bit of luck. I’m confident we’re going to have a good season.”
Nacer racked up 13 goals for us in all competitions last term and a repeat of that achievement would certainly be welcome if we’re to enjoy a successful campaign this time around.
So is this something the Belgium international is targeting?
“My aim is to help the team to win games,” he said. “If that means me scoring more goals then I will do it. I’m sure that, all together, we can have a better season than last year.”
