Jermaine Jenas has no doubt as to the toughness of our training camp in Spain.
"It's one of the hardest pre-seasons I've done," insisted the midfielder now preparing for his 10th campaign as a professional and his fourth at Spurs.
"A lot of it is mentally tough with the morning starts when we're running by quarter past eight. It's tough but you've got to do it. We're looking fit and that's all that matters."
JJ opened his pre-season account with the second goal of our 4-2 win against CD Denia on Saturday, our second win in two training ground friendlies in Spain.
It was a typical JJ goal as he burst through from midfield and finished one-on-one against the goalkeeper and he was pleased to open his account.
"I was happy to get things moving on that front," he said. "It was a tougher game than the first one and to score was ideal.
"Yes, it's only a friendly, but you want to get the ball rolling. It's an important part of my game."
Match preparations will step up a gear when we face La Liga Segunda Division side Hercules CF in Alicante on Thursday.
The friendlies come thick and fast after that with Norwich City, Leyton Orient, Borussia Dortmund and Celtic in the space of a week.
Our big home friendly against Italian giants AS Roma follows on Sunday, August 10 and then it's the big kick-off in the Barclays Premier League at Middlesbrough on August 16.
"We've done the running, we've got the fitness base and now we need the games," added JJ. "That is a completely different type of fitness.
"Hercules will be a higher standard then it's straight back for Norwich, Orient then the tournament in Feyenoord. We're all looking forward to the games."
