The manager was as excited as the next man when the 2016-17 Premier League fixture list was announced yesterday.
Now the planning begins in earnest for our opening day trip to face Everton at Goodison Park, followed by back to back home games against Crystal Palace and Liverpool on August 20 and 27 ahead of the first international break - remember, at this stage, all dates are subject to change.
Mauricio on the opener
“It’s exciting to know the fixtures," he said. "It’s a tough game, Everton have a new manager in Ronald Koeman who we know very well and starting at Goodison Park will be difficult, just like the last two years here!
“I remember my first game here in the Premier League was at West Ham, then the second year was at Manchester United and now Goodison Park. It’s never easy!
“But it’s okay, we’re excited and now we start to feel next season is coming.”

It’s all about August 13
“It’s now about being ready to compete because it’s always important to start well. We’re in the middle of the summer and it’s a moment to do our homework so we start pre-season clear with the squad and the players are focused on the start of the season.
“So it’s important to work hard now but exciting as well. This is our passion.”
