Danny Rose has travelled to Madrid and could be set for a return to action in the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

The England left-back hasn't played since being forced off with a knee injury at Sunderland on January 31.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino told us on the flight to Spain today (Monday 16 October) that Danny is likely to take a place on the bench when we take on Real Madrid on matchday three in the UEFA Champions League.

Fellow left-back Ben Davies hasn't travelled because of illness, but midfielder Mousa Dembele, sidelined of late, is with the squad, as is Dele Alli. The England midfielder is ineligible to play as he serves the last of a three-game European ban following his sending-off against KAA Gent in the Europa League last season.

"Danny Rose will be on the bench – that’s important, maybe he’s not fit to play from the beginning but to help the team," said Mauricio. "It’s very good for the team, good for him after nearly 10 months away and it's always important that players feel they can be involved and part of the team.

"Mousa Dembele is here as well. Dele wanted to come and stay with the team. We have injured players like (Erik) Lamela, still recovering and (Victor) Wanyama back at the training ground."
