We lock horns with the Serie A giants at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, eight days before we begin our 2016-17 Premier League campaign at Everton.
With the players who represented their countries at Euro 2016 now back in the group, Mauricio has highlighted the importance of the friendly outing to our overall target of being ready for the big kick-off on August 13.
“All the games are important for us, the games that we played at our training ground too,” said Mauricio, referring to the behind-closed-doors friendlies against Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United prior to our tour of Australia last week.
“I think for our preparation this game is arriving in a good moment for us. All the internationals are involved in the game, it is important to recover the feeling but the most important thing is to start the season in a very good condition.
“We have another week to prepare for the start of the Premier League and ensure that we arrive in a very good condition.”
On the return of Euro 2016 players
“I think it’s very important, it’s good that they are involved again with us to compete. We have a very good game, Inter Milan is a great team and it’s important to feel the competition. The most important thing is to be ready for the start of the Premier League.”
On training progress
“I think it’s okay. We are very happy in the way that we are. It’s an exciting season ahead and I think that we all are very excited to start to play and compete because in the end it’s been a long time (since our last competitive game) and every player wants to compete.”
On our Norwegian fanbase
“I think it’s always important to play in front of our fans, who will ensure that the welcome is fantastic when we arrive in Norway. It’s another opportunity to share a great moment with them.”
