True, West Ham had just put an end to our six-match winning streak in the Premier League and in doing so, ended our unbeaten run on the road that had stretched back to August.
And true, it was a miserable night in East London.
But results went our way on the night and the North London Derby is looming large at the Lane.
“We can’t get too down,” said Ryan, who gave his all in a real scrap, to no avail. “We’ve got a big game on Saturday and hopefully we’ll get back on track, get three points and then this is forgotten about.
“Everyone is disappointed, that’s natural, but the key is to recover, recover well and put in a good performance against Arsenal.
“This is a special game. The atmosphere will be rocking again. The supporters have been fantastic for us all season and I’m sure this will be no different.”

A raise of the eyebrows just about summed up the evening in E13. “It was a typical derby, a lot of tackles going in and in the first half-hour they got the better of us,” stated the midfielder, matter-of-factly. “It was very disappointing to concede a goal from a set-piece and then we were chasing the game.
"It’s been a tough spell but you could see in the second half that we were the fitter team and hopefully that fitness will tell against Arsenal on Saturday.”
Look out for more from Ryan in Saturday’s official matchday programme...
