'The players just want to play every game'

Mauricio Pochettino says there is no sign of letting up from the squad as we continue a spell of six games in 16 days in three competitions.

Last night's (Thursday, February 18) Europa League R32 first leg against Fiorentina kicked-off the busy run that includes Sunday's FA Cup fifth round tie against Palace, the second leg against Fiorentina (Thursday week, February 25) and then a quickfire Premier League triple-header against Swansea (February 28), West Ham (March 2) and Arsenal (March 5).

The 1-1 draw in Florence was game number 37 so far this season but with seven wins on the trot leading up to that, it's no surprise to learn that the players can't wait for the next one.

"The mentality is perfect," said Mauricio, back at Hotspur Way on Friday. "The players just want to play every game. They feel they are strong, feel they can all play every game and win every game. We need to carry on in the same way.

"We have a strong squad and in this period it’s important to use them all, to keep them all motivated and fit. "It’s important to look after every single player.

"There is big competition (for places) between them and that’s a benefit for the team."
