Spurs v Stoke - opposing manager's view

Posted on 25 February 2017  - 10:27

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is aware of our fine home form, but has challenged his players to take the game to us on Sunday afternoon.

We remain unbeaten at White Hart Lane in all competitions since the start of the season and return to action on our N17 patch looking for a response after Thursday's bitterly disappointing Europa League exit at the hands of KAA Gent.

Potters manager Hughes, who took his squad to a mid-season training camp in Dubai this week, is expecting a tough game, but has told his players to try to play on the front foot in a bid to get something out of the contest.

“They are a top side and their home form is excellent, so we know how difficult the game on Sunday will be for us,” he said when asked how he feels about playing us at the Lane.

“We will go there in good heart though, on the back of a good week, and there is no reason why we can’t go there with good intent and try to make things happen.

“We aren’t going there with the intention of solely trying to block them out, we will go out there and give it a right go.

“We have to be tight and resilient of course, just as we do in every game we play, but there is no reason why we can’t go there and use the undoubted talents we have to ask questions of them.”
