Klopp on Liverpool v Spurs: 'We need everything'

Jurgen Klopp is licking his lips at the prospect of an “enjoyable” game between two of the Premier League's most ambitious sides under the lights at Anfield on Saturday.

We head to Merseyside looking to continue our fine run of 11 games without defeat, aiming to gain ground on leaders Chelsea and at the same time tighten our grip on second place with the Reds among the chasing pack.

While we went down 2-1 at Anfield in the EFL Cup fourth round in October, our three top flight meetings with Liverpool under Klopp have all ended in draws.

With his own side looking to bounce back from a tough period which has seen them win only once since the turn of the year, the German boss is excited by the battle that lies ahead.

“The best thing in football is that you always have the opportunity to win the next game,” he said. “Our next game is Saturday against Tottenham – wonderful, half-five, fantastic time, night time, floodlights, great atmosphere – that’s all still enjoyable and that’s what we should use.

“Everybody knows against a team like Tottenham, we need everything that Liverpool are able to do and that’s really, really important. It would have been important in each situation in the table, but in this moment it is a little more important and we are aware of this.”

The Reds lost 2-0 at Hull City last time out and Klopp added: “(Tottenham are a) strong opponent and until yesterday, it was not a flying situation for us. If we play like we played in the first half against Hull, no chance. If we play like we did in the second half against Hull, a better chance, but we should play better than we did in the second half.

“It is a different game, everybody knows about the way Tottenham is playing. They are a strong side, a side that has grown together and they have a few injury issues – as we have. It’s an interesting challenge and will be exciting.”
