There’s a clear desire among the squad to finally beat Chelsea at Wembley this weekend.

We’ve struggled against the Blues in our last three battles under the arch in various cup outings but with Sunday’s clash set to take place on the Premier League stage and the team full of belief and confidence after the way we finished last season and started the current one, the lads have been speaking about just what’s at stake this weekend.

Here’s what Dele Alli, Ben Davies and Harry Winks had to say to us ahead of the game…

Dele Alli

Thoughts on the match
“Obviously every game is important and every game means a lot to the players and the fans, but there’s no hiding how big Sunday's match is to all of us. We’ve got some history with Chelsea over the last couple of years and we’re going out there looking to win the game. Obviously we were disappointed with the FA Cup semi-final against them at Wembley, it was another cracking game, a real battle and we played very well on the day but Chelsea just had the edge. I’m sure it’s going to be another great game this time."

How do you look back on our last home Premier League match with Chelsea when you scored twice?
“Without doubt that game was among my highlights of my time at Spurs. It was such a big match, they were on a good run as well and we wanted to put an end to that. To win 2-0 and for me to score both goals was a great feeling."

Ben Davies

Thoughts on Sunday's game
“We know it’s going to be tough. Chelsea are a good side but after the way we’ve started the season, we’re full of confidence and it’s about going into the game playing in our way and not focusing too much on them. It’s all about us trying to be in charge of how the game goes and I think if we do that, we’ve got every chance of taking the points.”

How important is it to take points off teams like Chelsea at this stage of the season?
“It’s of huge importance to start the season right. If we can get points on the board early-doors, it makes all the difference going into the hectic fixture schedule we have towards the end of the year. We have that ambition where we want to win things and that does start with getting as many points as we can in these early games. If we can, it’ll give us a real opportunity to kick on when the season really starts to get into full flow.”

Harry Winks

How do you feel about Sunday's match?
"It's huge. We're all up for it, we're all ready for it and the fact that it's a derby means it's more intense and more heated for the fans as well. We know just how much they want to win this game, we've taken that into consideration as always and we're going to go out there and give it everything we can to try to win."

Do you think we can finally see off Chelsea at Wembley after recent results against them at the national stadium?
"I think we've got to get a positive result after the semi-final last season. That was probably the most difficult game that I had to miss out of all of them when I was injured but any derby, any local rivalry is a game that we all want to win. You've got to give Chelsea respect in the sense that they're champions, they've got a good team and good players but I think it's important that we focus on ourselves really – we've got great players and we've got a good team so we look at it as a winnable game. We want to win it and we're capable of doing that."
