Goals from Djibril Sidibe and Thomas Lemar either side of Harry Kane’s penalty in the early stages of the second half saw us succumb to a 2-1 loss and with it, hopes of progressing to the knockout phase of the competition.
Here’s what the players had to say…

The young midfielder followed up his goalscoring first start in the Premier League against West Ham on Saturday with a first start in the Champions League.
What have you learned?
Harry: “It’s all about pressure, about results, about winning. There is no next game. We wanted to deliver and we were all determined to win, but it wasn’t to be. It was a disappointing night and we all under-performed.”
As a Spurs fan, it must hurt…
Harry: “Yes, of course, when you’ve come through the Academy and you are a fan all you want to see is the team do well and when it goes like that, it’s a real blow.”

Thoughts after a difficult night…
Kevin: “We knew we had to win this game but we didn’t play well. It was a tough game, very difficult. We’re all disappointed that we lost. We have to keep our heads up because we have another big game at Chelsea on Saturday and we have to see that as the next chance to get a positive result. That’s what we’ll look for.”
Where did we go wrong on the night?
Kevin: “In the first half we had a big early chance, but it’s true, we didn’t create a lot of chances. We didn’t put a lot of pressure on Monaco and overall, over the 90 minutes, it wasn’t enough.”

On conceding immediately after we made it 1-1…
Harry: “It’s disappointing, obviously. I don’t think we were good enough today anyway but we got ourselves back in the game, got the momentum back and that’s where we’ve got to try and push and get another goal and try to grind out a win, because we weren’t great, but conceding straight away knocked the stuffing out of us and we didn’t have enough to come back into the game.
“Obviously we’re gutted, we wanted to go far in this competition and we’re all disappointed but it’s something we’ll have to deal with, dust ourselves down and get ready for the weekend.”

On a performance that just wasn’t like us…
Hugo: “We didn’t manage the ball as we usually do and then Monaco had more confidence and belief than us. There is nothing to say about the score, the only disappointment is we had a lot of expectation in the competition and now we’re going to fight for third place.”
On conceding the second goal straight after Harry’s penalty…
Hugo: “It’s true, even in a bad night, we could have managed the 1-1 better. The second goal broke our legs. There was still a lot of time to play but at this level it’s too difficult to concede a goal like that.”
Can the players recover and return to our best at Chelsea?
Hugo: “I have no doubt. I said the same after we lost against Leverkusen at Wembley, this is the best type of game to bounce back. The only thing is to digest the frustration of this defeat and look forward.”
