Harry Kane’s brace inside the opening 16 minutes put us firmly in the driving seat against the Cherries at White Hart Lane.
But rather than just sitting back, we continued to attack and went on to add a third goal through Christian Eriksen after the interval.
Centre-half Kevin, who was naturally thrilled to play his part as we kept a second consecutive clean sheet in the Premier League, underlined how the players always target a large goals tally in order to finish teams off and boost our league-best goal difference at the same time.
“This is what we always say – when we are 1-0 or 2-0 up we never stop playing because it’s always important to score the second or the third goal like we did against Bournemouth to kill the game,” he said.
“It’s also important that we have a good goal difference and when we have games like last week when we won 2-0 at Aston Villa and again this week with a 3-0 win against Bournemouth it’s very good because these goals could be very important at the end of the season.
“Of course, it’s always good for the defenders and goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet too.”
Understandably, Kevin was also delighted to pick up three more points against Bournemouth to keep us within five points of league leaders Leicester City and six ahead of third-placed Arsenal, albeit having played one game more than the Gunners.
“It's very important for us to get these three points before the international break,” said Kevin, who has now linked up with Austria for a pair of friendly matches against Albania and Turkey.
“It’s good to keep a bit of a gap between us and Arsenal and the other teams near the top and now we have two weeks before the next game. Obviously we know Liverpool away will be a very hard game but I think we showed against Bournemouth that when we have a good day and we play how we know we can play, we can do well in all our games in this league. Hopefully after the international matches we can carry on like this.”
