The skipper kept clean sheet number 10 for the Premier League campaign so far as Harry Kane's goals either side of half-time secured the points after a dominant display at Villa Park.
As always, Hugo was quick to focus on the next game, but appreciated what this victory meant after the loss at West Ham and draw at home to Arsenal.
"It was an important game after West Ham and Arsenal and we really wanted to get back to winning ways," said Hugo, who helped us build on the best defensive record in the league, now just 24 goals conceded in 30 games.
"Of course, we should have scored more goals and managed the game better maybe, but at the end it’s three points with a clean sheet, two more goals for the goal difference and it’s all positive.
"We were very focused for this game, we needed to do the job against Villa and we did that. We need to carry on like that.
"Now we will try to win the next game against Borussia Dortmund. Let's see what happens."
The Bundesliga giants are next up on Thursday night (8.05pm) in the second leg of our Europa League, Round of 16 tie. We trail 3-0 after last week's first leg in Germany.
