Chris Wood’s 92nd-minute leveller for Burnley was a real sucker-punch as we had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Wembley on Sunday – and the players were visibly frustrated afterwards.

Dele Alli had given us the lead shortly after half-time and we had numerous shots either blocked at the edge of the Clarets’ box or saved by their goalkeeper, England international Tom Heaton.

But Wood found a gap in our defence in stoppage time to steal a share of the spoils for his side, leaving us with four points on the board going into the international break.

We spoke to defenders Kieran Trippier, Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld, plus goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris afterwards. Here’s what they said…

Kieran Trippier

Thoughts on the outcome
“It's one of those games. We were 1-0 up and they scored at the end which is very, very tough to take. Obviously it's the international break now and we've got to regroup, come back and get the three points at Everton.”

On being undone by a late goal for the second game running
“We were in control from the start and we created a lot of chances which we just didn't put away. You just need to keep working and working on the training field and the performances and the results will come.”

Ben Davies

You had another impressive showing today Ben…
“It doesn't feel good not picking up the win today so personal performances go out the window in games like that when you want to get results. It just feel disappointing. It's always a better feeling when you win so as a player I just want to win the game. We created a lot of chances today but unfortunately we didn't get the result that we wanted.”

On what went wrong at the end
“It's difficult to say. We'll reflect on it over the next few days. We haven't been known to concede late goals so it's just a shame that it's happened for the last two weeks. It’s very disappointing on this occasion but the next few times I'm sure we won’t have a problem.”

Toby Alderweireld

What’s your response to anyone who speculates that Wembley has been a factor in our last two results?
“I don't agree with that, of course not, because if we score and it's 2-0 or 3-0 then it's a good game from us. Like against Chelsea, we played a good game as well, against Juventus we played a good game so I don't buy that. They want to put that on us but no, we just have to be clinical. We play well, we create chances, we don't give a lot away and then we have to kill the game, that's all.”

Tell us about the mood of the players after this result...
“Everyone is disappointed and now it’s the internationals so it's not a good feeling to go away. But okay, it's the first three games, we can clear our heads in the internationals, prepare to play well there and then come back and be stronger, better and in the season, we always grow so we have to work hard to improve ourselves.”

Hugo Lloris

Post-match feelings
“The scenario in the way the game ended is very frustrating and disappointing but we need to keep working and keep believing in ourselves. The season is long and we have to make sure it doesn’t happen again. It’s about details. We should have killed the game before (the equaliser) and it’s about us controlling the game better on the field with and without the ball. We had good possession but sometimes you need to use it better.”

On how to fix things going forward
“Now it’s about mentality, to keep working and believing and then you know success will happen. It’s important to find our confidence and sometimes you just need three points.”
