"Unbelievable, crazy," said the manager after watching the team come from 2-0 down and then 3-2 down with 10 men and only minutes remaining to beat League Two side Wycombe Wanderers 4-3 in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
We didn't want the FA Cup's magic wand waved over White Hart Lane in terms of a cup upset, but it did anyway!
It's hard to argue with Wycombe's 2-0 lead after a double from Paul Hayes, who had earlier hit the crossbar, the second from the penalty spot.
Below: Mauricio's full post-match interview with Spurs TV
We started to find our form in the second half and looked on to turn it all around when Heung-Min Son and Vincent Janssen levelled the score by 65 minutes.
But we then lost Kieran Trippier to injury on 73 minutes and with us down to 10 men after making three substitutions, the tide turned again when Garry Thompson headed home for 3-2 on 83 minutes.
Undetered, Dele Alli levelled it up on 88 minutes before the grand finale, Son played a one-two with Janssen and fired across Jamal Blackman, with Luke O'Nien only helping the effort into his own net.
"To be honest, they were much better than us in the first half, full credit to them," conceded Mauricio. "In the second half we increased our level and improved our performance and we deserved to win at the end, with a little luck. The second half was better."
What was said at half-time? Did you stay calm?
Mauricio: "Yes, I was calm in the changing room, I wasn’t upset, only that we didn’t find the solution to try to stop them and create more chances than we created. Full credit to Wycombe, they played better than us in the first half, the second half was different, we scored four goals, that’s always difficult and I think we deserved in the end to be in the next round. However, if you analyse the game, it was an unbelievable game."
You have to remember we won with 10 men in the end...
Mauricio: "It’s true, we played more than 20 minutes with 10 men. Okay, maybe we’re playing a League Two team but in the FA Cup it’s impossible to demonstrate that you are at different level. At the moment when they scored for 3-2 it was tough but the team always believed, like in the second half against Manchester City, we showed character. There are a lot of positives to take and we’re into the next round."
