“It was a good performance, but not enough,” said Mauricio after Vincent Janssen’s penalty and first goal in the Premier League just before half-time was cancelled out by Ahmed Musa just after the interval.
We ended with 22 efforts at goal to the Foxes’ six and struck the woodwork twice. Leicester had two shots on target, the second in added time, but it wasn’t to be as we stretched our unbeaten start to 10 games but were held for a third-successive draw.
“It’s for that reason, we feel disappointed,” added Mauricio. “We tried, tried and tried and it was difficult. There were a lot of positives but it’s hard when you make it all to try and win the game to then only take one point.
“We need to be positive. It’s true we’re disappointed after that game because it was only Tottenham on the pitch but, in football, if you make a mistake sometimes you pay. It was hard for us but we paid for the only mistake we made."
'We need to be strong'
Mauricio: “In football, bad periods sometimes happen and we’re in a bad period, but we’re still unbeaten, and that is very important. Now we have two very important games ahead – Leverkusen and Wembley and then Arsenal – and we need to be strong.”
Do we just need a second goal?
Mauricio: “It’s true, but not that simple. It’s hard but we need to be positive after 10 games, five wins and five draws. We need to keep going.”
Mauricio: “He played well. That’s what we expect from him. He’s very young but from day one, we’ve been happy with him.”
