Leverkusen are back in the Champions League again after finishing third in the Bundesliga last term.
It’s the fourth-successive season they’ve competed in the group stages of Europe’s top competition and their colours haven’t been lowered at the BayArena in UEFA competition since 2014.

“It’s a team we know very well with very good players and a team that is normally playing in the Champions League, so they have that experience,” said Mauricio.
“They have players who are very aggressive, who try to press high and are dynamic and aggressive. They like to play on the counter-attack with very quick transition.
“I admire Roger Schmidt a lot, I liked him when he was at Salzburg and now here at Leverkusen. I don't know him personally, but I've seen a lot of games and I like his philosophy and the way his team plays.”
Leverkusen have drawn both fixtures so far against CSKA and Monaco and in a tight Group E, these back-to-back matches could be key.
“This game is very important for us and for them,” said Mauricio. “It’s not decisive, but it’s important for us and if we want to go through to the next round, we must win.”
