The Head Coach pinpointed the way the team came back from conceding an equaliser to take maximum points thanks to Christian Eriksen’s ice-cool finish from Erik Lamela’s assist seven minutes from time.
As a unit, we were solid under some intense City pressure. At 1-0, Yaya Toure struck the woodwork and with just about the last chance of the game David Silva fired over from close range but, generally, the home team’s attacking threat – not least Sergio Aguero – was kept at arm’s length.
“I’m very happy and pleased with the effort of the players, they were brilliant one more time,” said Mauricio.
“We were consistent and showed big maturity – we’re still the youngest squad in the Premier League, but we were fantastic.
“The players are a credit and it’s a pleasure to work with this team. The character and mentality are fantastic.
“Today we can say that we have the quality, of course, but the mentality is amazing and how we’ve improved in all aspects.”
Once again, Mauricio joined the players in celebrating with the fans at the final whistle.
“Another important thing is how we shared the win with the supporters at the end, how the players appreciate the supporters and how the supporters appreciate our efforts,” he added. “We say thanks again, our supporters are brilliant and that’s key for us.”
